History

Red Molly was formed late one night at the 2004 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. Abbie, Carolann, and Laurie, solo singer/songwriters, were the last ones left at a song circle. They liked the way they sounded together and decided to form a band. There are many theories of where the name comes from but on their website they state that it has nothing to do with the character from the Richard Thompson song 1952 Vincent Black Lightning but was inspired by Emmylou Harris's album Red Dirt Girl.

Their career started to take off in 2006. They were the top vote getters in the 2006 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival WUMB in Boston named them Top New Artist of the Year and picked their Album Never Been to Vegas one of their Top 10 Albums of 2006. Le trio apparait dans "Under the Radar" de John Platt ,  une émition radiophonique  de New York qui est  un tremplin pour des musiciens qui débutent.

Seven Years (Abbie Gardner)

Seven years since I last saw you
Youre two thousand miles away
Where I left you on that day
seven years

Seven years I lived in boxcars
I hardly saw the sun
Ive been on the run
for seven years

I ran away in fear and confusion
But now that little girl is long gone
I traded in my wedding ring for a shiny 38
Aint had much to do for seven years
But practice my aim

Ive come back, for restitution
You will pay for what you done
From here to kingdom come
In a shallow grave

Im no angel, Ive lost my virtue
Your sins will drag me down
No redemption will be found
and Ill live in chains

CHORUS

Aint it shiny? Aint it shiny?
Aint it shiny? Aint it shiny?

Long Island Cowboy

I always thought I’d live in Texas
where life goes by slow
but I ended up in New York City
where I run, run, run and I try to keep up

What I need is some kind of Long Island Cowboy
Riding the LIE like it was a rodeo
dirty jeans, pickup truck, Long Island cowboy
I need a lone ranger to carry me home

All these city boys
with their diamonds and roses
no they can’t win my wild heart
I need an honest man
who can rope ‘em and ride ‘em
who knows when to let go
and when to hold on with both hands

CHORUS

And he’d be rough around the edges
oh but I don’t mind
just to have him call me sugar
would be sweeter than wine
